6/28/2023 0 Comments Bitwig 2.4 vs ableton 10 suite![]() In Ableton you get a different kind of "steady state" CPU metering that's easier to work with when planning conservatively for a live show. You find out that you've overloaded the CPU in Logic by actually overloading it and getting a burp or a hiccup. I think it's a lot easier to figure out whether you're safely within the load that your CPU can handle with Ableton than with Logic. You can also easily control routing MIDI to and audio from external synths, and mix them under automation control in Ableton. Turning off an instrument silences it as well as freeing up the CPU. (This can only be done in arrangement clips.) With this, you can have a long show with lots of software instruments loaded up, but with only a few on at any moment. That includes external MIDI instruments with their audio returns. ![]() One of the things I love about it for live stuff is that you can automate "instrument on/off" for anything in an instrument rack / chain. One way to use Ableton is as a (much) better Mainstage, with a full-blown sequencer and audio playback on top of instrument hosting.
